Devotional Reading: Joshua 10:1–14 (NLT)
Pray Boldly, Trust Fully
Joshua and the Israelites were in the middle of a major battle when Joshua prayed an extraordinary prayer, asking God to make the sun stand still so they would have enough time to finish the fight. Scripture says, “There has never been a day like this one before or since, when the Lord answered such a prayer.”
Devotional Thoughts:
Joshua 10 shows us what bold faith looks like when it is rooted in God’s purpose. Joshua was not asking for something selfish. He was fighting the battle God had already called him to fight, and he asked God for the help needed to finish the assignment.
Bold prayer is not demanding that God follow our plans. It is confidently asking Him to accomplish His will through us.
Joshua prayed beyond what seemed reasonable. He believed that the God who had already given the promise was powerful enough to provide whatever was necessary to fulfill it. Sometimes we pray small because we are focused on our limitations instead of God’s ability.
This passage invites us to pray with greater confidence while staying surrendered to God’s will. The size of the request does not intimidate God.
When God gives the assignment, we can trust Him for the strength, wisdom, resources, and time needed to complete it.

Practical Application:
- Identify an area where you have been praying cautiously because the situation feels impossible.
- Ask God boldly for what you need to faithfully complete what He has called you to do.
- Keep your prayers aligned with Scripture and God’s purposes, not simply personal preference.
- Do not confuse faith with passivity. Joshua prayed, then continued fighting.
- Remember past victories when you need confidence for your present battle.
Devotional Prayer
Father, increase my faith and teach me to pray boldly. Help me believe that nothing is too difficult for You while keeping my heart surrendered to Your will. Give me what I need to complete every assignment You place before me. Help me pray with confidence, act with obedience, and trust You with the outcome. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
