Journey to the Cross: Pt. 1

Jesus entered Jerusalem not on a warhorse but on a donkey. This was a deliberate statement of humility and peace. The crowds expected a conquering military leader to overthrow Rome, but Jesus came to conquer something far more oppressive: sin itself. Their expectation bias blinded them to the true nature of their King. How often do we approach Jesus with our own agenda, wanting Him to fix our external circumstances while resisting the internal transformation He offers? Today, examine your expectations of Jesus. Are you celebrating Him for what you hope He'll do, or are you committed to Him for who He is? The humble King didn't come to meet our expectations, He came to exceed them by addressing our deepest need: redemption from sin. 

Father in Jesus Name, I thank you for sending Your Son to the cross. Jesus, You are the humble King. You did not come the way people expected, and You do not always move the way I plan. Forgive me for the times I’ve approached You with my own agenda, asking You to fix my circumstances while resisting the change You want to do in me.
Help me lay down my expectations and trust Your heart. Teach me to follow You not just for what You can do, but for who You are. Conquer pride in me. Transform what needs to change inside me.
I receive You as the King who brings peace, humility, and true redemption. Rule in my heart today.
