Devotional Reading: Hebrews 11:8; 11 NIV
Devotional Reading
"By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going....Verse 11 - And by faith even Sarah, who was past childbearing age, was enabled to bear children because she considered him faithful who had made the promise."
Abraham and Sarah’s story reminds us that faith is not about having all the answers; it’s about trusting the One who does. Abraham obeyed God’s call to go, “even though he did not know where he was going.” That’s faith in motion. He left behind security and stepped into uncertainty, believing God would fulfill His promise.
Sarah, too, faced what seemed impossible, bearing a child in old age. Yet Scripture says she “considered him faithful who had made the promise.” Faith anchored her not in her circumstances, but in God’s character. The result? Their obedience and trust gave birth to generations, fulfilling a promise greater than themselves.
Faith doesn’t remove uncertainty, but it does give us confidence that God is already at work in what we cannot see. Like Abraham and Sarah, we may feel unqualified, unprepared, or uncertain, but God delights in turning “impossible” situations into living testimonies of His faithfulness.
Practical Application
Step out to find out:
Don’t wait until everything feels certain; take the next step God is asking of you in obedience.
Trust His timing:
God’s promises may take longer than you expect, but they are never late.
Encourage your faith with His track record:
When doubt creeps in, recall past moments where God proved faithful.

Devotional Prayer
Father in Jesus' Name, I thank You for the example of Abraham and Sarah. Help me to trust You when I cannot see the outcome, to obey when it feels uncertain, and to believe that Your promises are true. May my faith leave a legacy that blesses generations to come. Amen.
