Journey to the Cross: Pt. 3

“Don’t you realize that I could ask my Father for thousands of angels to protect us, and he would send them instantly? But if I did, how would the Scriptures be fulfilled that describe what must happen now?”
In this moment, Jesus shows us that real strength is not proving you can fight back. It is choosing obedience when you have the power to defend yourself. Jesus was not helpless. He had access to heaven’s armies, yet He surrendered to the Father’s plan. That is what makes this passage so powerful. Jesus chose purpose over personal escape.
Many of us want God to remove hard situations immediately, but sometimes his will is no escape. Sometimes it is endurance, trust, and obedience through the process. Jesus understood that temporary relief could not come at the cost of eternal purpose.


Practical Application
Before reacting, ask, “Am I choosing God’s will or just the quickest way out?” When you feel pressure to defend yourself, pause and pray first. Trust that God’s purpose can still be working in uncomfortable moments.

Father, help me choose obedience over reaction. When I want escape, give me grace to trust Your plan. Teach me to surrender my will and walk in Your purpose. Amen.
