Devotional Reading: Galatians 2:20; Matthew 16:24-26
Devotional Reading
The cross wasn't jewelry in the first century, it was an instrument of execution. When Jesus calls us to take up our cross daily, He's inviting us into a lifestyle of continual death to self. This happens not in dramatic moments alone, but in ordinary decisions: choosing integrity when no one's watching, serving when it's inconvenient, speaking truth when silence is easier.
Paul understood this deeply: "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me." The cross is where our will collides with God's will.
Every morning presents a fresh opportunity to choose Jesus over ourselves. This daily decision transforms us from the inside out.
Reflection Question:
Where is my will colliding with God's will today, and what does surrender look like?
