Rooted in Righteousness

As we reflect on Psalm 1:1-3 this Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we see the power of living a life rooted in God’s Word and principles of righteousness. Dr. King exemplified this through his unwavering commitment to justice, nonviolence, and truth, even in the face of adversity. He chose to "delight in the law of the Lord," allowing his convictions to be shaped by God’s Word and the belief in the dignity and worth of every human being.

The imagery in Psalm 1 of a tree planted by streams of water reminds us that a life rooted in God’s Word bears fruit in its season. Dr. King’s work was fruitful because it was anchored in God and His Word. Like the tree, he withstood the storms of criticism, persecution, and challenge, but his leaves did not wither because he was planted by streams of water and drew strength from his relationship with God.

Today, honor Dr. King’s legacy by walking in righteousness and letting God’s Word guide you toward being a force for good in the world. A life planted by God’s streams not only prospers but also blesses others, much like Dr. King’s life and mission.
