“Can one blind person lead another? Won’t they both fall into a ditch? Students are not greater than their teacher. But the student who is fully trained will become like the teacher.”

Devotional Thought

Jesus uses a simple picture with a serious message. If you follow someone who lacks direction, you will end up where they are. Who you follow shapes where you go.
This is not just about leaders. It is about influence. The voices you listen to, the people you admire, and the patterns you repeat are all forming you. Jesus makes it clear that we eventually become like what we follow.
The goal is not just information, it is transformation. Jesus calls us to follow Him so closely that our lives begin to reflect His character. If we are not intentional, we will drift into becoming like the culture around us. But if we stay close to Jesus, we will grow to think, respond, and live like Him.

Practical Application

Evaluate your influences. Ask, “Who or what is shaping my thinking and decisions?”
Limit voices that pull you away from truth and increase time with God’s Word.
Intentionally follow Jesus daily through prayer, obedience, and reflection.
Choose mentors and relationships that reflect the life you are trying to live.

Devotional Prayer

Father in Jesus Name, I ask that you help me to follow You above every other voice. Jesus, Give me discernment to recognize what is shaping me and the discipline to stay close to You. Form my heart so I become more like You in every area of my life. Amen.
