Gifted Pt. 6

Devotional Reading: Matthew 25:14–30 (NLT)

Faithful With What God Gave You

“The servant who had received the five bags of silver began to invest the money and earned five more... The master was full of praise. ‘Well done, my good and faithful servant.’”

Devotional Thoughts:
In Jesus’ parable, a master entrusts resources to three servants before leaving on a journey. Each servant receives a different amount, but each is responsible for what was placed in their hands.

The issue was not that everyone received the same thing. The issue was whether each person would faithfully use what they had been given.

Two servants put their resources to work and produced more. The third servant, controlled by fear, buried what he had received. He protected it, but he never used it.

This parable challenges us to examine how we are stewarding what God has entrusted to us. That includes our time, abilities, opportunities, finances, relationships, influence, and spiritual gifts. God is not asking us to reproduce someone else’s results. He is asking us to be faithful with our own assignment.

Fear, comparison, and insecurity can cause us to bury what God intended us to use. Faithfulness means taking what God has given us and putting it to work for His purposes.
One day, the question will not be, “Did you have as much as someone else?” It will be, “What did you do with what I gave you?”

Practical Application:
  • Identify something God has entrusted to you that you may not be fully using.
  • Stop comparing your assignment with someone else’s.
  • Take one practical step this week to develop or use your gifts.
  • Do not let fear keep you from serving, giving, leading, or trying.
  • Ask yourself, “Am I managing what God gave me in a way that honors Him?”

Devotional Prayer

Father, thank You for everything You have placed in my hands. Help me not to waste, hide, or compare what You have given me. Give me courage to use my gifts, resources, and opportunities faithfully. May my life bring You honor, and may I one day hear You say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” In Jesus’ name, Amen.
