Devotional Reading: Matthew 26:36–39 (NLT)
Devotional Reading
In Gethsemane, Jesus faced overwhelming pressure. Knowing the suffering ahead, He told His disciples, “My soul is crushed with grief.” Instead of avoiding the moment, Jesus went to the Father in prayer. He honestly expressed His desire, “If it is possible, let this cup pass from me”, yet surrendered fully: “Not as I will, but as you will.”
Jesus shows us that faith does not mean pretending everything is easy. Real faith brings the weight of life to God and trusts Him even when the answer is difficult.
Practical Application
When life feels heavy; deadlines, responsibilities, family pressures, or difficult decisions, follow Jesus’ example:
Be honest with God.
Bring your real emotions to Him in prayer. He can handle your fears and frustrations.
Pause before reacting.
Jesus stepped away to pray before facing the situation. Prayer creates clarity.
Surrender the outcome.
After expressing your desire, trust God’s wisdom above your own.
Pressure often reveals where our trust truly rests. Like Jesus in the garden, we learn strength not by escaping the moment but by surrendering it to the Father.
Reflection Question:
What situation in your life right now requires you to pray honestly and surrender the outcome to God?
