Devotional Reading: Galatians 5:18 (NLT)
Devotional Reading
“But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses.”
Devotional Thought:
Paul reminds us that the Christian life is not meant to be lived by pressure, performance, or rule keeping alone. It is meant to be lived under the direction of the Holy Spirit. The law could point out sin, but it could not change the heart. Only the Holy Spirit can do that.
To be directed by the Spirit means we are no longer driven by the flesh or trapped in a cycle of trying to earn God’s approval. The Holy Spirit leads us from the inside out. He shapes our desires, convicts us when we drift, and gives us power to live in a way that pleases God.
Many people live driven by guilt, fear, pressure, or the need to prove themselves. But God calls us to live a Spirit-led life. There is peace in being led by the Spirit because His guidance always aligns with God’s will and produces real transformation.

Practical Application
- Start your day by asking the Holy Spirit to direct your thoughts, decisions, and responses.
- Pay attention to areas where you are living by pressure instead of God’s leading.
- When faced with temptation or confusion, pause and ask, “Holy Spirit, what are You leading me to do?”
- Stay in the Word of God so you can better recognize the Spirit’s direction.
Devotional Prayer
Father, thank You for giving me Your Holy Spirit to lead me. Help me not to live driven by guilt, pressure, or my flesh. Teach me to follow Your Holy Spirit daily and trust His direction in every part of my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
