Gifted Pt. 5

“Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.”

Devotional Thoughts:
Paul reminds us that church leadership was never meant to do all the ministry. God gives leaders to the church to equip His people so that every believer can participate in the work of ministry.

The word equip carries the idea of preparing, developing, and making someone ready for their assignment. Pastors, teachers, and other ministry leaders help believers grow in faith, understand Scripture, discover their gifts, and become prepared to serve.

This means church is not just a place where we come to receive. It is also a place where we are prepared to go and serve. God has given every believer a role in building up the body of Christ. Ministry happens when ordinary people use what God has placed in them to encourage, serve, teach, lead, give, and care for others.

You do not have to hold a title to do ministry. You simply have to be willing to be equipped and available for God to use you.

Father, thank You for giving leaders to help equip and prepare Your people. Help me grow, discover how You have gifted me, and use what You have placed in me to serve others. Make me willing, teachable, and available to help build up the body of Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
