Devotional Reading: John 16:7 (NLT)
Devotional Reading
“But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I do not, the Advocate won’t come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you.”
Devotional Thought:
Jesus told His disciples something that likely made no sense in the moment: “It is best for you that I go away.”
They were grieving the thought of losing His physical presence, but Jesus knew something greater was coming. Through His departure, the Holy Spirit would come; not just to be with them, but to live in them.
Sometimes God allows changes we do not understand because He is making room for something deeper. What feels like loss can become the doorway to greater help, greater intimacy, and greater strength. The disciples thought they were losing Jesus, but they were actually gaining the constant presence of the Holy Spirit.
God’s plan is better than our immediate preference. What we resist may be the very thing He uses to grow us.

Practical Application
- Trust God even when His plan does not make sense right away.
- Ask the Holy Spirit daily for help, wisdom, and comfort.
- Do not assume every difficult transition is a setback. It may be preparation.
- Stay open to what God is doing, even when it looks different than what you expected.
Devotional Prayer
Father in Jesus Name, help me trust You when I do not understand what You are doing. Thank You for giving me the Holy Spirit to guide, comfort, and strengthen me. Teach me to believe that Your plan is better than my own and to walk in faith through every transition. Amen.
