Devotional Reading: Matthew 16:24-26; Philippians 2:3-8
Devotional Reading
Jesus made the requirements of discipleship clear: give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow Him. The cross wasn't just about death; it was about public surrender, a visible sign that you now belong to someone else. True discipleship cannot coexist with selfishness. When we promote ourselves, we cannot simultaneously follow Christ. The Apostle Paul reminds us to abandon self-promotion and possess genuine humility, viewing others as more important than ourselves. This isn't about low self-esteem but proper alignment; God at the center, not us. Surrender means wherever Jesus leads, we follow, even when the path doesn't match our preferences. This week, identify one area where you're leading instead of following Christ.
Reflection Question:
Am I asking God for His plan or just His permission to do what I already decided?

Devotional Prayer
Father in Jesus Name, today I choose to follow Jesus and not my feelings, my comfort, or my own plans. I lay down my way and pick up the life You are calling me to live. Teach me what it means to surrender daily, to trust You even when it costs me something, and to walk in obedience when it’s not easy. Help me carry my cross with humility and faith, knowing that Your way leads to life. I want my steps to reflect devotion, not convenience. Strengthen me to follow You fully, wherever You lead. Amen.
