Devotional Reading: Hebrews 11:4 NIV
Devotional Reading
"By faith Abel brought God a better offering than Cain did. By faith, he was commended as righteous when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith Abel still speaks, even though he is dead."
Abel’s story in Genesis 4 is brief, but Hebrews tells us his faith continues to speak even after his death. What’s striking is that Abel never uttered a recorded word in Scripture; his faith became his voice. His offering wasn’t about the size or the substance alone; it was about the heart behind it. Abel gave his firstborn and the best portions, showing trust in God’s provision before knowing what would come next.
Faith that pleases God isn’t about outward performance; it’s about inward devotion. Abel reminds us that our actions of faith leave a testimony that outlives us. Whether in our family, workplace, church, or community, people see how we trust God not only in what we say but in how we live. The legacy of faith is not measured in length of life but in depth of devotion.

Practical Application
- Examine your heart:
- Before giving, serving, or worshiping, ask yourself, “Am I doing this out of duty or devotion?”
- Give God your best:
- Whether it’s your time, resources, or attention, don’t settle for leftovers; offer Him the first and the finest.
- Live for legacy, not applause:
- Remember that faith lived out today speaks louder than words tomorrow.
Devotional Prayer
Father, thank You for the reminder that true faith is shown in how I live, not just what I say. Help me to honor You with my best, to trust You with what I cannot see, and to leave behind a testimony of faith that still speaks long after I’m gone. Amen.
