Devotional Reading: Hebrews 11:32-34 NIV
Devotional Reading
"And what more shall I say? I do not have time to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson and Jephthah, about David and Samuel and the prophets, who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions, quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword; whose weakness was turned to strength; and who became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies."
The writer of Hebrews concludes his list of faith heroes with a powerful summary: ordinary people who did extraordinary things because they trusted God. Gideon was timid, Barak was hesitant, Samson was flawed, David was imperfect, and yet God used them “through faith” to conquer, overcome, and endure.
These men and women weren’t strong on their own. Scripture says their “weakness was turned to strength.” That phrase captures the heart of faith; it’s not about having flawless courage or endless confidence; it’s about bringing your weakness to God and trusting Him to transform it into power.
Faith doesn’t deny weakness; it depends on God in the middle of it. When you step out despite fear, when you obey even when you feel unqualified, when you keep trusting after failure, that’s faith in action. The same God who empowered Gideon, David, and the prophets is still empowering you today.
Practical Application
Acknowledge your weakness:
Instead of hiding your struggles, invite God into them. Faith begins where self-reliance ends.
Take the next step anyway:
Courage isn’t the absence of fear; it’s obedience in spite of it. Do what God is asking, even if you feel unsure. Do it afraid.
Depend on His power daily:
Pray, “Lord, turn my weakness into Your strength,” and watch how He works through what you thought was insufficient.

Devotional Prayer
Father, thank you for specializing in turning weakness into strength. Remind me that faith isn’t about perfection, it’s about trusting You in every situation. Use my limitations to show Your limitless power, and help me to walk in confidence knowing that You are my strength. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
