Words from the Cross Pt. 3

John 19:25-27 NLT
Standing near the cross were Jesus’ mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary (the wife of Clopas), and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw his mother standing there beside the disciple he loved, he said to her, “Dear woman, here is your son.” And he said to this disciple, “Here is your mother.” And from then on this disciple took her into his home.
Even in His final moments, Jesus was thinking of others. As He hung on the cross, enduring unimaginable pain, He looked down and ensured His mother would be cared for. This act wasn’t just about family but faithfulness, responsibility, and the deep love Jesus had for those closest to Him.

Mary stayed even when many others had scattered. John, “the disciple He loved,” was there, too. Their presence at the cross shows us the importance of staying close to Jesus even in challenging, confusing, and heartbreaking moments.

Practical Application

Care for others even when you’re hurting.
Who needs support, encouragement, or to know they’re seen?

Honor your responsibilities.
Like John, is God asking you to step into a new care, leadership, or support role?

Stay near Jesus.
Don't pull away when things get painful or uncertain—lean in.
