The Lord is Peace: Discovering Jehovah-Shalom

"And Gideon built an altar to the Lord there and named it Yahweh-Shalom (which means “the Lord is peace”). The altar remains in Ophrah in the land of the clan of Abiezer to this day.
- Judges 6:24 NLT

When Gideon is first mentioned in Scripture, we find him hiding from the Midianites in a winepress. In this winepress, God refers to Gideon as a Mighty Warrior and instructs him to save the people of Israel from their enemies.

Gideon comes from one of the smallest tribes, and his family is the weakest within that tribe. Gideon does not feel qualified to do the task the Lord asks for. God reassures him that He will be with Him, and Gideon names that place Jehovah Shalom, the Lord is Peace.

Peace is knowing that the Lord is with you. As a child of God, you are never alone. The Peace of God can be translated as "All is well."

Regardless of your challenges, know that the Lord is with you, and because He is with you, All is well!
