"Moses built an altar there and named it Yahweh-Nissi (which means “the Lord is my banner”). - Exodus 17:15 NLT
Banners are important throughout history. Recently, I took my family to an event at the arena where our local professional hockey team plays. In the arena, I noticed three championship banners, one for each championship the hockey team had won.
Banners show who you represent and who you’re committed to. Banners are hung or waved to announce allegiances and to announce victory.
Joshua and the Israelites were in a battle, and when they defeated their enemies, Moses built an altar and named it the Lord, which is my banner.
Moses reminded Joshua and the Israelites that the Lord is their source of victory and helps us overcome our battles.
Remind yourself of that same truth. Trust that God is with you and will help you overcome any challenge this week.
